2nd WORKSHOP ON TRANSLATIONAL NANOMEDICINE (September 18-19_Donostia-San Sebastian)

Nanomedicine is expected to become the next big thing in the pharmaceutical sector. The total market for nanomedicine is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.3% from 2014 through 2019 and reach $528 billion by 2019. Compared to the overall pharmaceuticals market, the nanopharmaceuticals market is expected to grow its share from 14.7% in 2014 to 22.1% by the year 2019.

However, in order to accelerate the development of nanomedicine there are some key aspects that the scientific community needs to discuss about, i.e. regulatory aspects, GMP manufacturing, standardization and characterization. The 2nd Workshop on Translational Nanomedicine will bring together experts to debate about these key issues in five sessions:

  • Session 1: Research in Nanomedicine in early stage of development – how to be prepared for translational research.
  • Session 2: Microfluidics  technology  applied  to  nanoformulation
  • Session 3: Research in Nanomedicine in early stage of development II
  • Session 4: Advanced characterisation techniques
  • Session 5: Nanomedicine and regulatory environment for nano-investigational medicinal products.

CIDETEC faces the new era of Nanomedicine

More than two decades of intensive basic research on nanomedicine has generated good knowledge on the limitations and the benefits of the use of nanotechnology in the biomedical field. Private and public initiatives have been launched to overcome technical difficulties that limit the translation of basic knowledge on nanomedicine into new products. At this stage, it is essential to gather the attention of nanotechnologists, clinicians, regulators and pharma industry to link bench to bed.
This has been the objective of the 2nd Workshop on translational nanomedicine organized by CIDETEC Nanomedicine in the frame of EC funded NanoPilot project. Would you like to know how it was ? Go to the video of the event in our website: http://www.cidetec.es/2wtn/ Read more
